The 75th Anniversary celebration of the American Business Women’s Association in Overland Park, KS was great! There were motivating keynote presentations (my favorite was “Becoming a Woman of Impact” by Jen Buck – very dynamic!) and the Track B sessions were inciteful and inspiring (“The 5 Buckets Principals” presented by Sherry Darden got me thinking about my priorities and what actions I need to commit to.)
One important item on the agenda was the election of our 2024-2025 National Board of Directors. Prior to the election, there was a “Meet the Candidates” hour where we could visit each campaign table and get to know the candidates by asking questions. Then we got to hear speeches from candidates across all six districts, including those running for National President, National Vice President and National Secretary-Treasurer. It was exciting to hear each candidate’s vision for the association and how she will make a difference in helping ABWA grow. It seemed each speech was more motivating than the previous one – we are in good hands! As a member of District I, we were able to vote on National President, National Vice President, National Secretary-Treasurer, and District I Vice President. Congratulations to Anne O’Neill, Kim Stengel, Barbara Pedersen, and Dior Davis, who were elected to fill those positions. Please look on ABWA’s Facebook page for the pictures of the entire board.
The week was packed with celebrations and recognitions of achievements. My most favorite is the Top Ten/Woman of the Year recognition breakfast. All league Women of the Year and Top Ten nominees were honored (including our own Barbara Gobbi). Then the 2025 Top Tens gave their speeches – how inspiring! We celebrated Dr. Gail Hamilton, who was selected as THE 2025 American Business Woman of ABWA. If you get a chance to connect with any of these women, please do – you will be impressed!
Bottom line: the National Women’s Leadership Conference is the best place to connect with ABWA sisters from around the country and build new relationships. Start saving now for 2025 NWLC!
