At NWLC we saw a fantastic presentation by Sherry Darden on the Five Bucket Principle of Work-Life Balance. We must think about work-life balance daily It starts with these five buckets:  Family and friends, Work, Finances, Health and Community and spirituality.

Family & Friends Celebrate those you love, because relationships constantly change. Parenting, grief, and household dynamics—these all impact every area of our lives and deserve consistent attention and work

Work When it comes to work, we need to practice getting excited about our job, as if each day was our first. There is always more you can learn, ways you can challenge yourself, and purpose to find.

Relationships Don’t wait until a holiday to celebrate those you love, because relationships constantly change. Parenting, grief, and household dynamics—these all impact every area of our lives, and deserve consistent attention and work.

Finances We need to stay in control of our money—not the other way around. It allows us to travel, experience the joy of giving, and handle unexpected crises more effectively and with minimal stress and anxiety.

Health As Our health becomes more complicated and it takes determination to maintain. When we don’t prioritize healthy aging, it catches up with us. Mindfulness around what we eat, how we stay active, and how we prevent disease is critical to our happiness.

Community and Spirituality  Turning on the news these days can be overwhelming and sad. Often, cynicism sets in and we begin to lose hope in ourselves and our world. Instead, we need to focus on being committed to making our world better. Find a passion, find a cause, and commit to it.
